Privacy Policy

The Short Version

• • Your music files stay on your device. We never see them.
• • We don't have accounts, so we don't collect email addresses or personal information.
• • We use Apple's built-in analytics to understand crashes and basic usage patterns.
• • One optional feature (artwork lookup) sends artist and album names to a third-party service. You can turn it off.

Your Music Library

BitDek stores your music files locally on your device. Your library data, including metadata, playlists, and play history, lives entirely on your iPhone or iPad. We have no servers that receive or store your music data.

Analytics

We use Apple's App Analytics, which is built into the App Store. This helps us understand how BitDek is used and identify issues that need fixing. Apple collects this data and shares aggregated, anonymized information with us. You can opt out of sharing analytics with developers in your device's Settings under Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

We do not use any third-party analytics services, crash reporters, or tracking SDKs.

TheAudioDB Integration

BitDek can automatically find missing album and artist artwork using TheAudioDB, a community-driven music database.

What gets shared: When this feature is enabled, BitDek sends artist names and album titles to TheAudioDB to search for matching artwork. That's it.

What doesn't get shared: No personal information, no listening history, no file metadata beyond what's needed to find artwork.

Your choice: This feature is enabled by default but you can turn it off anytime in Settings → External Services. Any artwork already downloaded stays on your device. BitDek works the same either way.

iCloud Sync

If you use iCloud Drive to import music into BitDek, that transfer happens directly between your device and Apple's iCloud service. We don't have access to your iCloud account or the files stored there.

Data We Don't Collect

To be clear about what BitDek doesn't do:

• • We don't require account creation
• • We don't collect email addresses
• • We don't track your location
• • We don't upload your contacts or photos (photo access is local-only, for custom artwork)
• • We don't sell data to third parties (we don't have any to sell)
• • We don't show ads

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to how BitDek handles your data, we'll update this page and note the date at the top. For major changes, we'll also include a notice in the app.
